The same could be said of the theatre with the famous theatre of Władysław IV Vasa leading the field. The wars of the mid-17th century brought about an economic collapse of Warsaw. In the years 1655-1658 the city found itself under siege three times and three times it was taken and pillaged by Swedish and Transylvanian forces.
